Wild & Scenic Rivers
The National Wild and Scenic Rivers System was created in 1968 by Congress with the aim to preserve rivers with outstanding natural, cultural, and recreational values for the enjoyment of present and future generations. When designated, rivers are classified as either wild, scenic, or recreational based on its degree of development and access. In 2018, the Wild and Scenic Rivers System is celebrating their 50th anniversary, and there has been a total 12,734 miles of river protected that span 40 States and Puerto Rico.

National Trails System
The National Trails System Act of 1968 established National Scenic Trails and National Recreation Trails and in 1978 President Carter signed into law a bill that created National Historic Trails. As the Act stands today, as amended, National Scenic Trails are described as extended trails of more than 100 miles in length that provide for outdoor recreation and “for the conservation and enjoyment of the nationally significant scenic, historic, natural, or cultural qualities of the areas through which such trails may pass.” National Scenic Trails may only be land-based, necessarily excluding any water-based travel routes. These trails may only be designated and authorized by an Act of Congress. National Historic Trails, according to the Act, are also extended trails, although they may be less than 100 miles in length, and follow historic trails or routes of travel as closely as possible. The purpose of these trails is “the identification and protection of the historic route and its historic remnants and artifacts for public use and enjoyment.”

Montana Conservation Corps
The mission of the Montana Conservation Corps is “Inspiring young people through hands-on conservation service to be leaders, stewards of the land, and engaged citizens who improve their communities.” Those are the words we live by and the mission we serve here at Montana Conservation Corps. Each year we enroll hundreds of young adults and school-aged youth in our AmeriCorps and Youth Service Expedition programs. Our leaders then pass those skills along to their crews of members, as they live, learn, and serve together in some of our country’s wildest places. They complete conservation projects in local communities, national forests, state and national parks, wildlife refuges and federally designated wilderness areas. We strive to give participants the experience of a lifetime through challenging projects and the rigors of life outdoors, coupled with education developed specifically to create engaged citizens and lifelong environmental stewards. Our goal is that each participant will leave MCC with the following: an ethic of volunteer service and civic responsibility; strengthened communication and team-building skills; enhanced competencies to be leaders and contributing team members; increased knowledge of the natural environment; and an enthusiasm for the benefits of hard work and quality results.

Montana Wilderness Association
For more than 50 years, Montana Wilderness Association has been working with communities across the state to protect Montana’s wilderness heritage, quiet beauty, and outdoor traditions. It’s a mission that began in 1958 when our founders, Ken and Florence Baldwin, sent a letter to 100 friends, inviting them to join a citizen-led effort to protect the Madison and Gallatin Ranges. Since that time, our commitment to grassroots conservation has proved instrumental in the passage of the 1964 Wilderness Act and in the designation of all 15 wilderness areas in Montana. We currently have more than 5,500 members. Our vision is a future where from the rugged mountains to the vast prairies Montana’s wild places are protected, connected, and restored because the citizens of our state value wilderness as essential to our heritage and way of life. We work with communities to protect Montana's wilderness heritage, quiet beauty and outdoor traditions, now and for future generations.

Montana Full Circle
Montana Full Circle is an outdoor hunting and reality show about real Montana people. The wide variety of species and ever-changing seasons allow hunting to come full circle. Hosted by the charismatic Bitterroot local, Adam Onsrud entertains and educates viewers with strong emphasis on conservation, ethics, and morals of hunting and the importance of passing on these traditions to the next generation. You can find Adam raising his daughter, scouring the mountains finding Antlers for decorative crafts, building furniture, gardening, processing game, managing property, and operating his own invasive weed control business, and working with the Montana Department of Agriculture to educate the public about preventing the spread of invasive plants and best management practices for them.

The Corps Network
Corps are comprehensive programs that provide young adults and veterans with job training, academic programming, leadership training, and additional support through a strategy of service that improves communities and the environment. Created in 1985, The Corps Network provides critical leadership to the Corps movement and to our nation’s Service and Conservation Corps as they harness the power of youth and young adults to tackle some of America’s greatest challenges. Today's Service and Conservation Corps are a direct descendent of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), one of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's most successful efforts to find alternative employment for the enormous number of young men whose chances in life had been derailed by the Great Depression. Over six million young men served in the CCC from 1933-1942, dramatically improving the nation’s public lands while also receiving food, housing, education, and a $30-a-month stipend that many sent home to help support their families. Today, many still remember their service with pride and actively participate in the National Association of CCC Alumni.

National Forest Foundation
Chartered by Congress, the National Forest Foundation was created in 1993 with a simple mission: bring people together to restore and enhance our National Forests and Grasslands. As the nonprofit partner of the U.S. Forest Service, we work with the agency and thousands of Americans each year to promote the health and public enjoyment of our 193-million-acre National Forest System. We believe that communities should play a leading role in determining the future of our National Forests and Grasslands, so we focus our efforts on connecting these communities, and the people who comprise them, to the tools, knowledge, and funding to become active and devoted stewards of this incredible public estate. Our mission is to engage Americans in promoting the health and public enjoyment of our National Forests. The challenges facing our National Forests and Grasslands are immense and complicated. But we believe that the power of communities and collaboration can, and will, prove capable of meeting these challenges. We look forward to a future where all Americans know and care about our National Forests and Grasslands.

Backcountry Hunters & Anglers
The Sportsmen's voice for our wild public lands, waters and wildlife. Backcountry Hunters & Anglers seeks to ensure North America's outdoor heritage of hunting and fishing in a natural setting, through education and work on behalf of wild public lands and waters. Our freedom to hunt and fish depends on habitat. While many of us enjoy hunting and fishing on a range of landscapes, including farm fields and reservoirs, there is something special – even magical – about hunting deep in the backcountry or fishing on a remote river. Wilderness hunting and fishing deliver a sense of freedom, challenge and solitude that is increasingly trampled by the twin pressures of growing population and increasing technology. Many treasured fish and wildlife species – such as cutthroat trout, grizzly bear and bighorn sheep – thrive in wilderness. Others, like elk and mule deer, benefit from wilderness. From the Steens Mountain Wilderness in Oregon to the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness in Idaho and the Boundary Waters of Minnesota, BHA members treasure America's wilderness system and strive to add to it. Our membership is driven to protect what little is left of our public lands heritage before the value noted by Leopold is lost forever. We take the advice of Theodore Roosevelt: "Preserve large tracts of wilderness ... for the exercise of the skill of the hunter, whether or not he is a man of means."

Discover the Forest
This PSA campaign aims to inspire tweens (aged 8-12) and their parents to re-connect with nature, experiencing it first-hand. The campaign brings to life the joy and excitement kids have when they discover the wonders of nature, helping create interest in their environment and a lifelong relationship with it.
Nature gives teens the ability to explore, use their imagination, discover new animals and plants, and engage in adventurous play. Being in nature frees them from their crazy, scheduled days and offers the ability to get lost in something totally unmanaged, unexpected and utterly surprising. Nature instills a peace and calmness they can’t experience in their daily lives, and the more they discover the natural world around them, the more they will feel connected to the world and better understand their relationship to it.

RiversEdge West (formerly Tamarisk Coalition)
RiversEdge West (formerly Tamarisk Coalition) was founded in 1999. RiversEdge West focuses on riparian forest and floodplain health in the American West to address impacts from invasive riparian (riverside) plants such as Russian olive and tamarisk, challenges associated with climate change and habitat fragmentation, and stressors that may result in diminished biodiversity and ecosystem services. RiversEdge West provides credible information on the best practices and technical aspects of restoration (e.g., techniques for managing invasive riparian plants and re-establishing natives). RiversEdge West also specializes in fostering grassroots leadership by bringing diverse stakeholders together across boundaries to coordinate the restoration of riparian lands. This is accomplished by helping practitioners assemble resources (e.g., gathering information, securing funding, raising public awareness) to better understand and navigate restoration challenges and succeed in the sustained recovery of affected river systems. RiversEdge West advances the restoration of riparian lands through education, collaboration and technical assistance, and we envision a network of healthy riparian ecosystems throughout the American West.

Weed Wrangle®
Weed Wrangle®, is a one-day, citywide, volunteer effort to help rescue our public parks and green spaces from invasive species through hands-on removal of especially harmful trees, vines and flowering plants. Supervised by an experts in invasive weed management, Weed Wrangle®-volunteers will learn, practice, and begin a habit of maintaining an area free of invasive plants and encourage replanting with natives in removal areas. By engaging our neighbors and challenging them to take action in their own spaces, we hope to create a movement that will have the greatest impact on the invasive plant population. Volunteers will take their new knowledge and enthusiasm to their own homes and continue the efforts there. Weed Wrangle® is a wide ranging and ongoing collaborative effort to slow or reverse the spread of invasive plants through public education and volunteer plant removal. Weed Wrangle® is a Garden Club of America, Partners for Plants project. Partners for Plants is a joint program of the GCA's Conservation and Horticulture Committees to monitor and conserve rare plants, restore native habitats and remove invasive weeds on federal, state and local public lands. Partners for Plants volunteers have partnered with land agencies to conserve a variety of natural open spaces throughout the United States. The Weed Wrangle® sites will be the direct beneficiaries of the project. But, equally important is the indirect and long term benefit. It is clear that a broad based and ongoing group effort is key to controlling the spread of invasive plants.
