Shelby Park and Bottoms

Shelby Park and Bottoms is Nashville's third-largest city park, seeing tens of thousands of visitors each year. A combination of a historic park centered around recreation and a protected bottomland hardwood forest brings the total size to just around 1300 acres. With a rail line dividing the two distinct sections, so came invasive plant species, once used for erosion control along the tracks. Nashville Metro Parks and Friends of Shelby work in tandem to both remove these plants and create awareness of their harm to the natural environment.
